Abstract:

Control is a “hidden” technology, which guarantees operation and functionality of the devices, systems and processes. New challenges for control designers emerge due to increasing complexity of the control systems and problems encountered in most recent application domains. Namely, new devices and technologies demand novel approaches to control. The goal of the proposed programme is to come up with new knowledge, tools and building blocks that will be used in analysis, design and efficient implementation of the control systems in the domains that are of national and EU priority (in particular, embedded systems, fuel cells, advanced production systems, biological wastewater treatment).

The programme consists of the three major areas of work:

  • Area 1: Methodologies for analysis and control systems design

1.1. Modelling and identification of nonlinear and complex dynamic systems

    1.2. Advanced control

1.3. Condition monitoring and fault diagnosis

  • Area 2: Tools and building blocks for implementation

2.1. Environment for the control systems implementation

2.2. Tools and methods for SW design

    2.3. Dedicated HW modules

  • Area 3: Applied research in the priority domains

3.1. Embedded control systems for special purpose

    3.2. Biological wastewater treatment plants

    3.3. Production processes

3.4. Fuel cells and renewable energy sources
